What Is A Christian?
A CHRISTIAN IS ONE WHO IS A BORN-AGAIN BAPTIZED BELIEVER IN JESUS CHRIST...
A Christian is one who...
1. ACCEPTS THE BIBLE:
as the inspired Word of God without any mixture of error.
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.;” (2 Timothy 3:16)
2. ACCEPTS GOD'S PLAN OF SALVATION:
Man can be saved from the penalty of sin only by personally receiving Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior:
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father; but by me.” (John 14:6)
“But as many as received him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name…” (John 1:12)
Believing in Jesus involves believing that Jesus died for your sins, was buried, rose again, is at the right hand of God and is soon to return for His own. Salvation involves repentance – turning from sin to Jesus Christ. This is possible only as one calls upon Jesus for forgiveness of sin.
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)
3. DESIRES TO BE BAPTIZED:
It is baptism immersion that has separated Baptist and every other church group. Baptism is the symbolic display of one’s death, burial and resurrection.
“know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into His death? Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death; that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by Glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”
(Romans 6:3, 4)
4. DESIRES TO WORSHIP & FELLOWSHIP WITH OTHER BELIEVERS:
Gods Word instructs us not to forsake "the assembling of our selves together " - Hebrews 10:25
The local church is made up of a group of people who have received Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, have been baptized and join together in worship, study, fellowship and evangelize the community of which they are apart.
Several logs burn brightly together, but put one aside on the cold earth and the fire goes out. So it is with your relationship with other Christians.
5. DESIRES TO LIVE SEPARATED LIVES:
We believe in righteous living – living lives which give Glory & Honor to God.
“I beseech you therefore, brethren , by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of you mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God,”
(Romans 12:1, 2)
